JOB EXPERIENCE:

October 2000 - Present (7/2001)
Senior Software Engineer / Sr. Web Applications Developer Tiaxa, Inc.

Tiaxa is a web-based Latin American portal located at www.tiaxa.com which features a
web interface to wireless services, email, and other communications services. Originally
hired on a contractual basis to restructure and upgrade the site from version 1.0 to
version 2.0. Involved a complete re-write of all the ASP code as well as the
creation of services. Involved optimization of ASP web site by upgrading SQL code
used throughout the site, ensuring the use of pooled ADO connections, standardization
of variables and other logical optimizations, not used in versions prior. Reverse-
engineered this very complicated application from the ground up, implementing
optimized code and administration. There was no documentation to work from so
thorough analysis was required from day one.

Other tasks included the programming of Services running on Windows2000 which do
scheduled tasks such as notification of email receipt and calendar events through SMS
(Short Message Service) which are received on cellular phones. Also, architected
applications for transmission of SMS messages from Tiaxa servers to remote WIS
servers for large carriers.

Currently working on porting Windows applications to UNIX platform using Perl and C on
UNIX. Include custom SMTP components using UNIX sockets and RPC interface. Also
working with Perl DBI and object-oriented Perl to port current Windows-based
applications to UNIX and Oracle. Use of MOD_PERL in both C and Perl.

Additionally, I implemented on Tiaxa a content management system of my own design
which provides for complete content management of the web site, in multiple languages,
by non-programmers, involving XML / DOM on the backend with no database calls. This
tool is extremely helpful to the company because it is important to them to serve the
exact same site on multiple domains in multiple languages, and my content
administration system enables this for them, with one-time administration of multi-
language content from one console. Also includes XML formatting with XSL.

September 2000 – (vacation)

September 1999 - August 2000
Senior Web Applications Developer Zoggle, Inc.

Zoggle is an outgrowth of Public Works Corporation (see below). I was the original back-
end architect of the Zoggle.com beta site, utilizing Vignette StoryServer 4.2. Current
duties include creation of web applications using Java, ASP / XML / WebClasses and ADO
with MS SQL Server. Additionally, I provide maintenance support services and server
administration assistance.

January-February 2000
Web Developer – Microsoft Corporation Redmond, Washington

Contract position. Duties included web programming for MSN, implementing back-end
web site for management to monitor usage of public web sites. Utilized Windows 2000
Server, IIS 5.0, ASP 3.0, DHTML, IE 5.0 . Open-ended contract. Great learning
opportunity.

March 1998 – December 1999
Senior Programmer, Web Admin, Software Designer for 21st Century Eloquence, Inc.
Web Site: http://www.eloquentlystated.com , http://www.voicerecognition.com

Duties include Design, program, and implementation of company proprietary software
product, "Eloquently Stated Document Creation System" using Visual Basic 6.0, and
DHTML. This program involves high-level VB programming involving COM and DCOM
server components and ActiveX controls. Project is a networked, distributed multi-user
client-server application using ADO (ActiveX Data Objects). Development includes
complete database design specifications for networked software, as well as web
deployment with thin client. Additionally, responsible for the creation of a universal data
interface whereby the database portion of the program can connect to and either
download or simply access data from any kind of ODBC or OLEDB compliant data source
using ADO. Also designed DCOM objects for the purpose of three-tiered data
connectivity, effectively cutting the client out of the connection process and using the
DCOM object to access and pass data back to the client using business rules.
Additionally created a number of proprietary ActiveX controls for use in the software,
and a number of other APIs to facilitate the addition of other programmers to the
project.

Other duties include Windows NT Server administration, Windows NT Server IIS 4.0
administration, implementation of ASP (Active Server Pages) involving database
connectivity, use of RDS (remote data services involving IIS4.0) and database
implementation and design using MS-Access as well as SQL Server.

During the course of the creation this software, became proficient in the use of Dragon
NaturallySpeakingvoice recognition software, as well as the Dragon NaturallySpeaking
Software Development Kit, which covers the programming voice recognition components
into software using Visual Basic.

Regularly use InstallShield 5.5 to package and distribute the software. Am proficient in
the use of InstallShield scripting language. Also have written proprietary setup program
in VB6.0 using DAO as well as ADO to automatically create and set up the user's
database according to their choices at setup time. Have been using Visual Source Safe
to maintain code integrity throughout multiple versions.
